Description

GENHL

General health literacy level.

gender

Dummy variable for gender: male = 1, female = 0.

age

The age groups are as follows: 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66-75, 76 and older.

education

The education levels are as follows: ISCED 0: pre-primary education; ISCED 1: primary education; ISCED 2: lower secondary education; ISCED 3: upper secondary education; ISCED 4: post secondary non-tertiary education; ISCED 5: first stage of tertiary education; ISCED 6: second stage of tertiary education [69].

employment

Dummy variable for employment status: full-time, part-time, unemployed, retired, other.

finance

Financial situation measured by Likert scale from very poor to excellent (very poor, below average, average, above average, excellent).

social status

Social status measured by Likert scale from very low to very high (very low, low, lower middle, middle, upper middle, high, very high).

frequency

Frequency of health service usage: 0 times, 1-4 times, 5-8 times, 9 times and more.

language

Dummy variable for the language used in the questionnaire: Latvian, Lithuanian or Russian.
